The exam this app is for
NCA-AIIO is the certification for the side of AI that nobody sees in a demo: the hardware underneath, the cluster around it, and the operational habits that keep both useful. It is the associate-level exam aimed at people who administer, support or plan AI infrastructure rather than train models on it — infrastructure engineers, platform teams, and the solutions and pre-sales people who have to answer "will this actually fit in our data centre?".
That focus shapes the questions. Many of them read like a short operational situation: a rack whose power cap sits below a full build, a cluster where demand now permanently exceeds supply, a team whose models are good but whose deployments are manual and untracked. The right answer is usually the one an experienced operator would reach for, and the wrong ones are real products or real practices that solve a neighbouring problem.
What the 300 questions cover
The bank is spread across the three domains NVIDIA lists for this exam. The shares below are how this app distributes its own 300 questions; they are an editorial choice, not an official blueprint.
-
AI Infrastructure
GPU server and cluster design: interconnect and networking, storage for training data, rack power and cooling limits, GPU scheduling on Kubernetes, node and GPU feature discovery, container registries and image caches, and the buy-versus-rent arithmetic for sustained versus bursty demand.
-
Essential AI Knowledge
The vocabulary an infrastructure person is expected to share with the data scientists: training versus inference, data versus model parallelism, which metric to trust on an imbalanced dataset, what the "AI factory" framing is claiming, and where an MLOps practice fixes an organisational problem rather than a technical one.
-
AI Operations
Running the thing day to day:
nvidia-smiand what it does and does not tell you, cluster management and provisioning tooling, monitoring and health checks, quota and fair-share policy when teams are fighting over GPUs, and keeping a node inside its power and cooling envelope without taking it out of service.
How you study with it
- Six sets of 50. Each set covers all three domains, so any one of them is a full rehearsal rather than a topic drill.
- Exam mode runs a set against a timer and hides the answers until you are done, which is the only way to find out whether you actually know the power-and- cooling questions or were just recognising them.
- Practice mode marks each question as you answer it and puts the explanation on screen immediately. Slower, and far better the first time through a domain.
- Domain breakdown. The result screen scores you per domain. A 74% that is really 90% on infrastructure and 45% on operations is a different problem from a flat 74%, and the screen says which one you have.
- Incorrect and bookmarked lists. Every question you miss is collected automatically; anything you want to revisit takes one tap on the star. Both become review runs of their own.
- All four options explained. The explanation says why the key is right and why each distractor is not — usually because it is a real tool for a different job. That is where most of the learning in this exam sits.
About the timer. Exam mode in this app uses 50 questions in 60 minutes and reports 70% as a target. Those numbers are this app's own settings, chosen to make practice feel like a sitting. NVIDIA sets the real exam's format, and it does not publish a passing score for this certification, so treat 70% as a study threshold and nothing more. Check NVIDIA's own exam page for the current format before you book.
Questions people ask
Do I need access to a GPU cluster to use this?
No. The questions are about decisions and behaviour — what a tool reports, what a topology costs, which control fixes a contention problem — and the explanations fill in the background. Hands-on time helps for the exam itself, as it always does, but nothing in the app needs hardware.
Is this enough on its own?
Treat it as the rehearsal, not the whole course. NVIDIA publishes exam topics and free training for this certification; read those, then use these 300 questions to find out which parts did not stick. Working the same set twice, a week apart, is worth more than skimming all six once.
Does it cover the operations tooling by name?
Yes, where the topic calls for it — cluster management, monitoring and the command-line utilities come up by name, because recognising which tool owns which job is a large part of this exam. The explanations say what each one is for rather than assuming you already know.
Is there an NCA-GENL or NCP-AAI version?
Yes, as separate apps with their own banks: Prep for NCA-GENL, Prep for NCA-GENM and Prep for NCP-AAI. Nothing is shared between them except the app shell, so buying one does not give you another's questions.
Will it work on the train, on a plane, in a testing centre waiting room?
Yes. All 300 questions and all 1,200 explanations are in the download. The app makes no network requests at all, so there is nothing to sync, nothing to expire, and no spinner. See the privacy policy.
Where do the questions come from?
They are written with AI and organised against the published NCA-AIIO domains, then balanced across the three areas above. They are original practice material, not real exam questions, and no exam question is reproduced. If an explanation looks wrong, tell us — fixes ship to everyone in the next update.
